Yale University is the private educational establishment located in New Haven, the state of Connecticut. Set in the year of 1701 as the Collegiate School, the University is the third oldest establishment of higher education located in the USA plus it is a constant member of the Ivy League.
Yale University’s assets comprise a $15.2 billion contribution (the second largest amongst educational institutions and about a dozen libraries holding 11 million volumes. It has 3,200 faculty members teaching 6,000 graduate students and 5,200 undergraduate students alike.
The University’s 70 undergraduate majors are chiefly concentrated on a liberal curriculum, and some of the undergraduate departments are considered pre-professional in nature (the engineering departments maintain and demand students to explore educational disciplines out of engineering as well). A few 20% of the undergraduates of Yale major in the sciences, 45% in the humanities and arts, as well as 35% in the social sciences. Tenured professors educate undergraduate courses, about 2,000 of which are provided each year.
The University uses the residential college housing system structured after those systems at Cambridge and Oxford. Each of 12 colleges houses a typical cross section of the undergraduate body, and features many facilities, seminars, support personnel, and resident faculty.
