Architecture of the Yale University
September 10th, 2008When one starts to speak about the University of Yale, he or she just can do nothing, but mention the architecture of the educational institution. Colligate Gothic campus is one of he most famous buildings of the University of Yale. Yale University is also famous for its modern iconic buildings.
A lot of buildings of the University of Yale are constructed in neo-gothic style dated back to the 1917-1931. Beautiful stone sculptures one can see almost everywhere build into the walls of the university, these sculptures provide the following images: athletes, writers, students who have fallen asleep while reading. The walls of the Low School are decorated with the friezes which depict the image of the policeman arresting a robber or a prostitute for the illegal acts or a student who is sitting somewhere with a cigarette in a want hand and a mug of beer in the other one.
The following representative of the Gothic style is Old Campus. It is created by such prominent architects as Russell Sturgis, Chares. C. Height, Henry Austin.
Connecticut Hall is considered to be the oldest construction within the University of Yale. It was build in 1750 in the Georgian style, that is why being an old building, still it makes the impression of the modern style construction.
